Missions

At Weber Road Church of Christ, we support a variety of mission points throughout the country and around the globe. We believe every part of the Great Commission that Jesus gave his apostles and us in Mark 16:15 to “go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” We take it to heart both locally in our Corpus Christi community as well as the world. Below are just a few missions we help support.

Training Preachers Since 1965. Today, as much as ever before, the church needs dedicated men for work in the Kingdom. As the world’s population grows to nearly 7 billion souls, the need to sow the seed of the Gospel in the hearts of men has never been greater. Even within the Brotherhood, congregations are leaving the pattern of sound words contained in the Scriptures in hopes of attracting larger crowds and pleasing more members. This worldly approach, by necessity takes the emphasis off of God, our Creator, and puts greater trust in man’s ability to give people what they want. But what man wants will not save him. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). The problem is growing and the threat is real.

WE TRAIN PREACHERS…Sound, dedicated preachers are needed to fill many empty pulpits and to proclaim boldly the truths of God’s inspired word.

WE TRAIN MISSIONARIES…Sound, compassionate missionaries are needed, both here in the U.S. and around the world, to take the saving message of Christ to the lost and dying. Since 1965, the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver has been training men and women for work in the Lord’s Kingdom with a strong emphasis on studying the Bible. Our mission is to ground faithful men in the truth of God’s inspired word and fan their desire to go out into the world and preach. We believe in the pattern of sound words God has revealed to mankind in the Bible. Each day we work at entrusting this pattern to faithful men who will teach others also.

Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies (or SEIBS, formerly East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions) was chartered by the state of Tennessee in 1971. The school is operated under the oversight of the elders of the Karns Church of Christ.  Southeast is, therefore, a work of the church itself. The scriptural basis for such a school is found in passages such as II Timothy 2:2, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”  The Karns church is sound in doctrine and dedicated to evangelism. While Southeast is a work of the church, its programs and curriculum are parallel to what would be found in colleges.  The education advantages are equal to, or superior to, that of similar schools or colleges. Southeast admits students without regard to race, color and national or ethnic origin. Enrollment and participation by women are subject to Biblical guidelines as understood by the school and the Karns Church of Christ. Southeast is authorized by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.  This authorization must be renewed each year and is based on an evaluation of minimum standards concerning quality education, ethical business practices, health and safety, and fiscal responsibility.
